Re: Hilton S3158 NO 30514 05434 Field

Hi,

I have visited pillar S3158 twice. My first visit was 1986, and I revisited again in 2004 for photographs and a GPS measurement. I can see from OS records that this pillar was one of a number of triangulation stations in that part of Fife that were recomputed in February 1987, so it was still ...

Re: Access to Trigpoints

ACCESS RIGHTS TO OPEN LAND.

Most of the British countryside is privately owned, but that does not prohibit access onto open land by the general public on foot. The act of 'trespass' is not illegal, it is just used as a dirty word by certain factions in society, particularly some of those who own ...

Re: How many triangulation pillars in Wales?

Hi,

You can filter the contents of this trig pillar spreadsheet by country and by county. See columns Y and Z.

I update this data annually.

Re: The Pillars closest together?

Trigonomy Group is not defunct. The mail group is still there.

Yahoo deleted the files and photos. I have most of the data which was stored.

The file which hold the 'close pair' info was Exchanges.xls. The back worksheet within.

That can be downloaded from here:

Re: Buckinghamshire Mystery

GB6W is my creation and was assembled mainly in 1999. It has been updated many times since but not since last year. If you have just recently downloaded GB6W.png from the Dropbox source, then you have the up to date version.

The numbers represent the flush bracket (FB) numbers physically on the ...

Re: First Trig point in Wales

Thanks Bernie,

That's excellent information, fills many empty cells.

These dates all fit in nicely with similar FB numbers. The October 1936 date for Rhiw (S1824) fits with its original FB, S1623. The replacement FB range date from July 1937, so that pillar must have needed some early surgery ...

Re: Trig pillars in New Forest National Park?

The above list would have been more meaningful if Flush Bracket numbers, station names and grid references had been included.
