I am a bit stumped about this and don't really know where else to turn.

Spotted this "milestone" near Bolton-le-Sands and on closer inspection (much later after finding it) it seems to have a benchmark on the top of it.

Can't seem to find any log of it on bench-marks.org.uk (not easy to find stuff, and there doesn't appear to be a forum/messaging system).

Anyone any thoughts or help please?

Thanks.

Do you have a grid ref?

No, but it is somewhere around here: N54° 06.875' W2° 47.328'

It will be in square 47/69 on the Kendal and Morecambe OS Landranger map.

I think there is a dot and MS near where it is, but it is hard to tell as I highlight my long distance routes on the map in highlighter pen.

No, it's not that. It is on the A6 road (hence crash barriers).

It was a hot day, and I was tired - should have taken a few more pictures and looked more closely at it.

The other side has an iron plaque on it that says "BUR...." with the rest hiden behind the crash barrier.

This is indeed the nearest mark, and looks to be in the right place, but it is linked to the wrong stone.

This is the correct stone.

This stone doesn't seem to have an entry on the list.

I've added a comment to the observation on the Benchmark Website.
