Re: android app

Open TPUK on phone in browser, scroll down to find the QR code, click on it (or just scan it I guess!), you'll likely get a warning that it's not in Playstore. I had to reload it onto my S7 recently, after it refused to sync.

As has been noted, it doesn't work properly on later versions.

Re: Trig points removed or destroyed

Indeed, almost 1km from the nearest trig on TPUK, although seems a logical place for one, if at the summit. I recall a Pathfinder map (not as old as 1948) in Mid Wales which had a lot of trig symbols in a few km2 of moorland. It made no sense that they would all be trig stations; needless to say we ...

Re: Trig points removed or destroyed

What's the grid ref? If not already on TPUK it could be an "old trig" or a "ghost trig" i.e. non pillar trig, but if the latter it should already be on TPUK. What if anything has been found on the ground?

Re: Ballards Ash

It might be interesting to add this info to the Passive Stations wiki page http://trigpointing.uk/wiki/Passive_station

However at present there's nothing there at all - anyone able to make a start? I've never been at all clear on how passives were used, and whether they still are ...

Re: Ballards Ash

Turning the question around, are there any instances of Passives with Surface Block and Berntsen close together with each having its own station ref?

An example of an FBM with SB and Berntsen close together is the Oswestry FBM Aux 1 Berntsen H2SJ2724 http://trigpointing.uk/trig/606 which is close ...

Re: Ballards Ash

Moor Fields http://trigpointing.uk/trig/7325 in West Yorkshire
is another instance of an OS Surface Block with a Berntsen just a few metres away; the latter is non-OS as far as we know.

Thanks Ted - that was the one I was thinking of, near Leeds, not Central Scotland

From others' Moor ...

Re: Ballards Ash

Not me. Think it makes sense to merge it with the main Ballards Ash page. NB Ballards Ash seems to have two Berntsens equidistant from the SB.

Another Passive with an associated Berntsen is Failand http://trigpointing.uk/trig/287 - in that case included on a single trig page. Bailbrook http ...
