I really hope this question doesn't cause too much debate.
If Little Ouse is the lowest Trig Point and Ben Nevis is the highest - what would be the most average height?
Is there a consolidated list of heights of TPs?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Middle ground
Someone may already have this info, but it occurs to me that it should be fairly simple to work out. You can download a gpx file of all trigs (http://trigpointing.uk/trigs/ then click 'download'), then use a service like http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/elevation to add the height data for each point. Then should be fairly simple to load the resulting file into a tool of your choice (Excel can probably do it?) to calculate the average.
Re: Middle ground
Thanks but I'm not looking for the median heights of TPs. My fault for posing the question wrong. I know the highest and the lowest but what is the middle one?stripybadger wrote:Someone may already have this info, but it occurs to me that it should be fairly simple to work out. I will follow the links above to see if the answer lies in there but thank you for the info StripyBadger

Re: Middle ground
From my spreadsheet Pillars18.xls
By adding the heights of all known 6590 pillars stations, then dividing that total by 6590, we get:
Average height = 238.163m
This may be slightly out as a small number of pillars were not levelled and the height given on Pillars 18.xls are estimated to the nearest metre from the maps.
Hope this helps.
