Urban trigs
Hi all new to the trig baggin we spent this week up in buxton amazing time visited 14 TPS now back home for lockdown in likeston, we found a old map sayin there are trigs here but out for a walk this morning an it's not there in the church grounds ,this map sayin there is 14 local to us, in urban areas are TPs still untouched? Any advice much appreciated ,ur fellow trig enthusiast ,triggerhappy84

It depends how old the map is! 19th Century maps show many stations from the first triangulation, for which there are no proper records and which are unlikely to be traceable on the ground.

Just added to the Facebook group an as shown in some pics the points on church an building an markings , not a pillar thanks for ur reply where off out now on the hunt

The FB group will give good pointers. Only about 30% of modern (i.e. post 1936) triangulation stations are concrete pillars of the sort commonly found on hilltops etc.
