Hi all,
I know nothing about trigs or height locators, but in restoring an old John Rennie bridge across a canal found a locator point chiselled out on brickwork in the bottom of the canal adjacent to the 1793 brick bridge abutments. We are restoring the brick abutments, some of which, including the marker point, had fallen into the canal, and thought it might be nice to re install the marker point within the abutments. But need help to do so, if indeed it is thought interesting enough to do so.
Photos attached of marker and bridge abutments.

Re: Help on Restoring a height locator
Photo of other side of bridge abutments, and how restoration is progressing. We (river Gipping trust) have a wooden footbridge kit arriving in 6 weeks time. The scaffolding across at the moment is temporary. We hope to open the footbridge this autumn (2021). 10.5m long x 2m wide. Reinstating the tow path along the canal lost some 100 years ago.

Hi,
If you can estimate the grid reference of the bridge, then it would be worth using the
benchmark search option at https://www.bench-marks.org.uk/search
to see if it is recorded.
Best wishes for your restoration project.
