How does this work?

Post by bbglebe »

Hi
I am new to trig points and have bagged my first 2 today. :) How does this website work? How do I log my Trigs and add my photos?

The main idea is that you find the page for the trigpoint you bagged, and enter your log there. A summary of everything you have logged is shown in your Profile page, behind your avatar/username at the top.

You can find the appropriate trigpoint page in many different ways...
If you're near the trigpoint, easiest is to click the "Trig Points Near Me" button on the home page, and it'll likely be top of the list.
If you know the trigpoint's name, 'TPxxxx' waypoint reference, or the number on the trigpoint's flush bracket, type it into the search bar and one of the popup suggestions should take you straight to the correct page.
If you know a town, grid reference, lat/long coordinates of a place near the trigpoint, type that into the search bar and click on a popup suggestion to be taken to a new page that lists trigpoints near that location. Then click on the one you're looking for.
If you're already viewing the page of a nearby trigpoint, the "View Nearby Trigpoints" button near the top of the page will help you hop around.
If all else fails, click on the Map button on the homepage (or the "View on Interactive Map" button on any trigpoint page) and zoom, scroll and click until you find what you're after.

Once you're on the page for the trigpoint, click the "Log This Trig" button.
This will expand out a form where you can enter the date and time of your visit, the current condition / location of the trigpoint, a score etc. You can also use the "Add Photo" button to upload one or more photos, add captions etc. If your photos look the wrong way up, you can rotate them here.
Once everything looks OK, click "Create Log".
You'll then be taken to a page which has the trigpoint details header and your log (and only your log). This has buttons which allow you to delete the log, or edit it (eg to add more photos, update your comment, or whatever).

If you ever want to edit or delete a log you entered before, from either the trigpoint details page, or from the list in your profile page, click on the log you want to edit. You'll be taken to the page with just that log on it, and the buttons that let you delete or edit.

Hope all that makes sense. If not, suggestions welcome!
